Mrs. Glisson's weekly news
Week of September 6
I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day holiday! We are looking forward to a new week of fun and learning! Our Continent Clubs will be presenting in class this week and will share their research findings! They did a tremendous job creating giant continents! Our test over continents will be Wednesday, September 8. We will be reviewing in class on Tuesday. Remember, the students will not be required to spell the names of the continents. They will need to be able to match the continent name with the correct location on the world map. We reviewed last week, and they did a great job!
We are also focusing on map skills this week as we share the book Island Boy. Our third grade cartographers drew beautiful maps of Tibbett’s Island and will be creating their very own dream island! In language we will be focusing on the kinds of sentences. I hope you’ll have an opportunity to stop by and see the “When I Grow Up” writings in the hall. The children did a wonderful job on these!
In math this week we will continue to work on place value and standard and expanded form. We will also be comparing greater numbers.
Our spelling list will be somewhat shorter this week because of the short week, and we will not have challenge words. Our Bible verse is Proverbs 16:20, and our Bible studies will focus on trust. We will be talking about Moses.
Have a super week!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Glisson
