3rd Grade
Mrs. Holland’s Weekly News
Sept. 6-10
I hope everyone enjoyed the nice long weekend. This week in third grade we wrap up our study of the continents of the world. “Continent Clubs” will be sharing their data and informative posters as we make a class chart together. We will use our map skills as we construct a map of Tibbett’s Island from the book, Island Boy. Students will use their creativity as they design their very own “Dream Island.” We will focus on identifying different kinds of sentences from our class book and learn our first cursive letters this week!
In math we will enjoy our new Scholastic Dyna Math magazine, play more place value games and begin our unit on rounding. We will be rounding numbers to the nearest ten and nearest hundred this week.
The test over the continents and oceans of the world is this Wednesday, September 8. Students need to be able to locate the continents and oceans on a map. They will be given a word bank to assist them with spelling. They should have a study guide at home and I have encouraged them to check out these websites for review:
