I have taught English at Boyd-Buchanan School for 9 years, including the 2009-2010 school year. I have taught 8th-12th grades. I am also the yearbook advisor. I love being with my students and helping them achieve their full potential.

Accelerated English I
Accelerated English I is designed for students who have exhibited a proficiency in the fundamentals of grammar and who are able and willing to excel in their efforts in studying language arts. This literature-based course provides an extensive study of grammar, writing, critical thinking skills, and vocabulary. Students are expected to follow the same course description as that of English I, but they are assigned more outside reading and have more opportunities for writing. Accelerated students also learn research techniques, as well as complete research projects.
English I
English I integrates a variety of types of world literature with the study of grammar, writing, and vocabulary skills. Students respond to writing prompts, use critical thinking skills, and apply strategies for improved reading comprehension. The reading includes a Shakespearean play, a Greek epic, and selected novels as well as short stories, drama, and poetry. This course also provides information concerning research techniques as well as a research project.
Yearbook/Journalism
This course is for creative and highly motivated students. It focuses on creating the school's yearbook within the school year. In doing so, studetns must meet all scheduled deadlines. Students develop their creative skills in page design and layout; their writing and proofreading skills are enhanced through writing articles. Students are required to photograph sporting events as well as other school activities. Some after-school work may be required.
