Week of May 13, 2013
We are enjoying our book MANIAC MAGEE that we started last week. It is opening our eyes to discrimination that happens in our world. We will be reporting on our 1950's stamps this week and exploring important events from the Civil Rights Movement.
A note was sent home last week letting you know the details of the last few days of school. It included a permission slip for the end-of-the-year party. Please return the permission slip and $13 by Thursday, May 16. Please, read the details of the letter, especially the dress code for the recognition program.
May 22- Fifth grade recognition program, 8:15 AM
May 23-Class party - We will leave the school on Thursday at 8:35 to begin skating at 9:00.
***I would like to remind parents and students that we have certain after school procedures to ensure the safety of all our children. The students either go to after-care or the sidewalk for pick-up. The students also may be picked up in the hallway by a parent or other authorized pick-up person. If your child attends one of our after school clubs or teams, he or she will wait in the classroom with one of the fifth grade teachers until 3:05. At that time the teacher will walk the participants to the club activity. If your child is a volunteer for Safety Patrol he or she needs to be at school by 7:45 and prepared to stay until 3:15 on the week of service. Your child’s job as a safety patrol member is important to the safety of all the children of BBS. Thank you for your help in encouraging your child to cooperate with our after school policies.
