English 8

We combine English, Spelling, Writing, Reading, Vocabulary and Literature into our 8th grade curriculum. Our English includes grammar, usage, mechanics, and essential writing skills. Spelling and Vocabulary are taken from skills taught in English and from our Literature stories weekly. Our classes on writing will include narrative, descriptive, expository, and persuasive writing. Classic and Contemporary novels are read throughout the school year and during the summer.

 

Girls Bible 8
We read, discuss and study through the book of Acts. Questions, quizzes and tests are given for complete comprehension. Historical facts and maps are brought before the class to reinforce the Bible as the true word of God. Second semester is enhanced by adding Project Alert which informs the students about drug and alcohol awareness. Discussion on consequences, alternatives, and resistance techniques are taught. We also teach an abstinence class to prepare our young ladies for life’s obstacles.
