Tutoring
Program Goal:
Our goal is to maximize student understanding and achievement in each subject area. We aim to support the classroom teacher and provide supplemental instruction to aid students in mastering skills and concepts and to enrich his/her learning experience.
Program Description:
Academic Support Services Tutoring Program offers tutorial services to middle school and high school students. Individual and small group tutoring will be provided in most content areas. Tutors and teachers will work together to structure tutoring sessions for the students to best meet their needs. Tutoring sessions will be with skilled adult tutors for middle and high school students. Homework help sessions will also be offered with high school students for middle school students.
Program Commitment:
A nine-week commitment is recommended. Each student will be reevaluated at the end of each nine week grading period. It has been found that tutoring is most effective on a continual and consistent basis. However, we can review your child’s placement in the program at any time.
Program Enrollment:
A registration form must be completed and returned to Melissa Conn, mconn@bbschol.org.
Program Policies:
Cancellation: Tutors prepare for lessons weekly. If your child cannot attend a session, you must give 24 hours notice. If you are working with an Adult Tutor, contact them directly. If you are in homework help, contact the middle school office. If your child is not at school on the day of the session or goes home early, you must contact the tutor as soon as possible. It is not the responsibility of the school office. You are responsible for payment of the session if the cancellation procedures are not met.
Program Payment/ Fees:
Individual fees for each hour session with an adult tutor: $25 for MS/ $35 for HS. Homework help fees will be $10 an hour. Payments are to be made to BBS marked ATTN: Tutoring Program. Sessions are to be prepaid by the month.
