Back-to-School Updates
Student Directory: Updated directory information sheets and directory orders may be submitted through August 31, 2009. Forms are available in both Middle School and High School Offices. Cost is $5.00 and checks should be made payable to BBS. Payment must accompany order and may be left in PC Envelope in either MS or HS office. Please write separate checks for Parent Council Dues and Student Directory
Shop Fall Hours: Every Thursday 3:00 to 4:00 and during all Home High School Football games. Look for additional opening times in the Blue Notes and Sunshine Notes. If you have any questions, please contact Gina Allen at 314-5330. The Secondary Parent Council thanks you for your continued support
The Uniform Stop located inside the Spirit Shop still has many items of pre-owned uniform wear so stop by and complete your BBS wardrobe. The Uniform Stop is also currently taking donations. You may drop off clean, gently used uniform items in the marked bin located in the Middle School hallway adjacent to the Office. A donation log is located in or around the bin and a tax deductible receipt will be mailed to those who supply the requested information. We ask that you limit donations to only items that meet secondary dress code requirements!! Please - no shoes or T-shirts! Please call Julie Tucker at 423- 987- 7699 with any questions
Parent Council Membership: Please join Parent Council today!! Dues are only $25.00 per family, even if you have students in both elementary and secondary grades. Membership forms are available in both Middle School and High School Offices. Please make checks payable to "BBS" and place form and payment check in the Parent Council envelope located in either office.

Magazine sale and renewals- Although this is not the magazine sale some of us once knew, it's an easy way to get the magazine you want and make a difference for BBS. SPC receives 40% of the proceeds from sales and renewals. Go to: http://www.magfundraising.com/bbssecondaryparentcouncil to order or renew. Almost to $170.00 raised to date!
Purpose and Goal
The Secondary Parent Council strives to enhance the operations of the school and daily lives of its students, faculty, and administration. The Council is composed of a board and parent representatives from each grade who act as a reciprocal voice between parents and administration. Among its many functions and along with countless energetic parent and grandparent volunteers, Parent Council hosts monthly teacher appreciation luncheons, serves snacks to students during semester exam week, rewards monthly character education award winners, funds teacher and student scholarships, and stocks and mans the Spirit Shop, along with our ever-popular "Uniform Stop". Parent Council also organizes large scale fundraisers, most recently our "Dinner at the Dock" with dynamic entertainer Boyd's own Chris Riggins. All Boyd-Buchanan parents are encouraged to be a part of Parent Council.
Your dues and support of our Parent Council fundraising efforts go a long way to benefit our students and faculty! For the 2008-2009 school year, PC funds have been allocated for these exciting additions in our Middle and High School:
- Potter's Wheel (High School)
- Calculus in Motion Software
- Wellness Videos
- Ceiling Mounted Camera
- Non-Contact Thermometer
- Overhead Projector
- 4 Microscopes
- DVD/VCR Players; Televisions; Boom boxes to enhance classroom study
- 3 ELMOs, LCD projectors and rolling carts for ELMOs
- Jeopardy Classroom Review Game
These were just a few of the requests teachers made. Some of you may have items that were requested that you would be willing to donate or purchase, such as...
- Stereo Amplifier
- 5-10 Vinyl bean bag chairs (approx. $20 each)
- 3-4 handheld recorders
- Set of speakers (to use with LCD projector and laptop)
- Wall-mount hand sanitizers ($7 each)
- X-Large paper cutter ($60-$65)
- Inexpensive dishwasher (basic functions)
- Multi-Plex display/exhibit system
- Mounted pull down screen
- Pictionary Game
- 2 Video Rockers ($30 each)
- 7 Microphones to use with computers
