Parent Council Membership: We are asking that every family join the Parent Council by donating (tax deductible) membership dues in the amount of $25. This will go a long way in funding the many services and activities planned for the upcoming year, including the maintenance and upgrading of the mobile computer lab. Each family pays only once, regardless of how many children and whether they are in Elementary, Middle, or High School.
Your student could win the “Triple Crown of Lunch” or a “Casual Dining” event. The Middle School grade that has the highest participation rate will win the “Triple Crown of Lunch”, consisting of a lunch extravaganza for one day: selecting the lunch menu for that day for the entire school, being dismissed from class 5 minutes earlier than the other MS grades for lunch and finally, getting to eat outside that day. The grade in the High School with the highest participation rate will receive the “Casual Dining” event for a day. This will include a dress day and the opportunity to select the menu for the whole school for that day.
The deadline to submit your parent council membership dues for the contest is Monday, September 20, 2010. The winners will be announced and the awards given during the first week of October.
Spirit Shop Hours: The Spirit Shop will be open during all home football games (both Middle School and High School Junior Varsity and Varsity). Other hours will be on Thursdays from 3 – 3:30 p.m. or by appointment. Please contact Gina Allen at 314-5330.
The Uniform Stop, located inside the Spirit Shop, is currently taking donations. You may drop off clean, gently used uniform items in the marked bin located in the Middle School hallway adjacent to the Office. If you would like a tax deductible receipt, please include your name, your student's name/grade, address, phone number, and a detailed listing of the clothing you are donating and one will be mailed to you. We ask that you limit donations to only items that meet the Middle and High School dress code requirements. Please, no shoes or T-shirts. Parent Council Membership: It is never too late to join Parent Council! Dues are only $25.00 per family, even if you have students in both elementary and secondary grades. Check with your class rep details!
Events and Fundraisers
Our first BucFeast is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, August 25 and August 26 at Steak n Shake on Gunbarrel Road. Beginning this Thursday, the coupons should be available for distribution. We will share them with you via email and will send them out via the mass email E-news. Also, we will have them available during both the MS and HS open houses on Thursday, 8/19 and Tuesday 8/24. You can make copies of these coupons and give them to ANYONE. Share with your family, your friends, your church members, etc. [Per our agreement with Steak n Shake, please do not pass them out on Steak n Shake property.] All you have to do is go to Steak n Shake on Gunbarrel Road, the night of Wednesday OR Thursday August 25 or 26 and place your order and turn in the coupon. This is good for dine in, take out or drive through, regardless of the amount of the receipt. And if the student will put their name on the back of the coupon, Steak n Shake will draw from all coupons turned in and award a student a $25 gift certificate to Steak n Shake. It is a win-win. So if you are eating out anyway, run by Steak n Shake on August 25th OR August 26th!! We co-sponsor the local newspapers for the school library and monies received from this event will be used to help pay for the newspapers that the students in the MS and HS use daily.
Magazine sale and renewals - Although this is not the magazine sale some of us once knew, it's an easy way to get the magazine you want and make a difference for BBS. Purpose and Goal
The Secondary Parent Council strives to enhance the operations of the school and daily lives of its students, faculty, and administration. The Council is composed of a board and parent representatives from each grade who act as a reciprocal voice between parents and administration. Among its many functions and along with countless energetic parent and grandparent volunteers, Parent Council hosts monthly teacher appreciation luncheons, serves snacks to students during semester exam week; rewards character education award winners, funds teacher and student scholarships, and stocks and mans the Spirit Shop, along with our ever-popular "Uniform Stop".
Your membership dues and support of our Parent Council fundraising efforts go a long way to benefit our students and faculty! For the 2009-10 school year, SPC funds have been allocated for these exciting additions in our Middle and High School:
