Parent Council Membership: We are asking that every family join the Parent Council by donating (tax deductible) membership dues in the amount of $25 (click here for the membership form). This will go a long way in funding the many services and activities planned for the upcoming year, including our teacher wish list. Each family pays only once, regardless of how many children and whether they are in Elementary, Middle, or High School.
This year we are offering two different incentives. The MS grade (6th, 7th or 8th) with the highest participation percentage will win a dress down day as well as one of the HS grades (9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th) with the highest participation percentage. Additionally, we will be awarding the class (6th – 12th) a $5 off coupon to the Spirit Shop for that one class that has the absolute highest participation percentage.
The deadline to submit your parent council membership dues for the contest is Friday, September 23, 2011. The winners will be announced and the awards given during the first week of October.
Spirit Shop Hours: The Spirit Shop will be open during all home football games. Other hours will be on Thursdays from 3 – 4 p.m. or by appointment. Please contact Terri Gilbert at 413-6054 or Carmen Peace at 505-3964.
The Uniform Stop, located inside the Spirit Shop, is currently taking donations. You may drop off clean, gently used uniform items in the Middle School and High School Offices. If you would like a tax deductible receipt, please include your name, your student's name/grade, address, phone number, and a detailed listing of the clothing you are donating and one will be mailed to you. We ask that you limit donations to only items that meet the Middle and High School dress code requirements. Please, no shoes or T-shirts. Go ahead and mark your calendars for Belk Charity Sale on Saturday, November 5. Each ticket is $5 and Boyd-Buchanan gets to keep the $5 ticket cost and you get $5 off your first purchase. This is a WIN-WIN for everyone, thanks to Belk. Check MS and HS offices for ticket sales.

Plan on being at Buffalo Wild Wings in Hixson on November 7 for our next Buc Feast (more details to follow).

Magazine sale and renewals - Although this is not the magazine sale some of us once knew, it's an easy way to get the magazine you want and make a difference for BBS. Purpose and Goal
The Secondary Parent Council strives to enhance the operations of the school and daily lives of its students, faculty, and administration. The Council is composed of a board and parent representatives from each grade who act as a reciprocal voice between parents and administration. Among its many functions and along with countless energetic parent and grandparent volunteers, Parent Council hosts monthly teacher appreciation luncheons, serves snacks to students during semester exam week; rewards character education award winners, funds teacher and student scholarships, and stocks and mans the Spirit Shop, along with our ever-popular "Uniform Stop".
Your membership dues and support of our Parent Council fundraising efforts go a long way to benefit our students and faculty! For the 2010-11 school year, the Parent Council spent over $27,000 for the students and teachers in the Middle and High School, including the following listing of items.
- 10 new computers for the mobile computer lab
- 3 new computers for the library
- Color laser printer for the MS computer lab
- 3 document cameras and 1 projector for MS and HS classrooms
- Projector screen for band room
- Pair of official size folding goals for PE classes (MS and HS)
- Set of GeoMirrors for MS math
- DVD Player for MS classroom
- 2 smart, interactive white boards for MS and HS classes
- 2 FLIP HD cameras and green lighting screen for HS class
