Band & Chorus News:
Don’t miss the spring musical
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat this Friday and Saturday. Play times are: Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
Jazz Lights is scheduled for April 1 at East Brainerd church of Christ. More details to follow.

Rainforest T-shirts are on sale for $14.00 each. Ten shirts save one acre of rainforest. This year the project is in the Brazilian Amazon, which is the world’s largest and most species rich rainforest. It is larger than the continental U.S. and is home to one-third of all plant and animal species found on the Earth as well as nearly a fourth of the planet’s fresh water. The last day to purchase a T-shirt will be Friday, March 26. See Mrs. Caldwell for more information.

Parent Council News:

The next Buc Feast is Monday, March 29 at Steak and Shake on Gunbarrel Rd. You must have a voucher for BBS to benefit. Connect to the website or pick on up in the middle or high school offices. Come out and support our teachers and students!
You may purchase movie tickets from the middle or high school offices: Carmike $7.00; new Rave $7.50; and old Rave $6.00. Click here for restrictions.

The Stanford Writing Assessment will be administered in the middle and high school Wednesday morning, March 31. The result of each secondary student’s test will count as a percentage of his/her 4th nine weeks’ English grade.

Juniors and seniors please bring pictures that could be used for Jr/Sr. These can be printed pictures or on CD. They can be from pre-k through grade 12. Make sure to write your name on the pictures/CD. If you have any questions, contact Mrs. Hedgecorth khedgeco@bbschool.org.

Admissions’ News: Applications are now being accepted for the 2010-2011 school year. Please give the names and addresses of prospective students to the Admissions Office at 629-7610.

Calling all photographers! The yearbook would love to have pictures of all sports and activities. We want to be able to showcase as many students as possible, so we welcome any pictures from parents and students. Contact Mrs. Jones cjones@bbschool.org for more details and information.

Guidance Department News:
Seniors needing a mid-year transcript sent to their selected college or university should complete a blue sheet (information release form) or update Naviance as soon as possible.
Please update the guidance office on all college acceptance letters you receive and scholarship money awarded.
College-bound seniors applying for federal and state grants, work-study, and loans need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To file online go to www.FAFSA.ed.gov. All Students wishing to receive a Tennessee HOPE Scholarship need to file a FAFSA.
Vanderbilt’s PAVE summer program is now accepting applications. This 6-week program runs June 21 - July 30 and is offered to junior students interested in the fields of engineering/pre-med/science who plan to take advanced placement or honor courses in math and science their senior year. Any junior who is interested should contact Mrs. Moore in the guidance office.
The American Red Cross and The McCallie School are holding lifeguarding classes this spring. The classes include certificates for lifeguarding and first aid (good for 3 years) and a Professional Rescuers CPR certificate and AED (good for 1 year). The class cost $205 which includes all materials, pool rental, equipment and supplies. Students must be at least 15 years old and may stop by the McCallie pool Monday – Thursday from 3:00-6:00 or call 493-5536 to register.

On-Going News

Any middle school parent who is interested in their child participating in a group for children of divorced parents, please contact Jennifer Daniel (MS Counselor) at 624-9063 or jdaniel@bbschool.org.
The yearbook staff is offering the BBS family the opportunity to purchase personalized advertisements. These can be used to congratulate a team, recognize your student, or just show your support for the Bucs. Fliers may be picked up in the high and middle school offices. Contact Christine Jones (cjones@bbschool.org) for more information.
Academic Support Services ~ Tutoring for high school and middle school students is available in all subjects. For more information contact Jennifer Daniel (middle school) or Melisa Moore (high school). You can also check the Academic Support page of the school's web site (www.bbschool.org) for more information and a tutoring application. Any high school student interested in working as a tutor needs to complete an application. Applications are in the high school office.
Student and Parent Reminders
Parents, please call the office before 9:00 a.m. to request assignments for a sick student or notify the office of early dismissal for a student. All assignments can be picked up between 3:15 and 4:00 the afternoon of the request.
Messages for students will be delivered only in case of a medical emergency. All other messages will be posted on the message board for students to retrieve between classes.
Backpacks are not to be left in the hallway. Please place your backpack on top of the lockers or on the shelves.
All medication, whether prescription or over-the-counter, must have a yellow medication consent form accompanying it and must be turned in to the nurse. Prescription medicine must have a doctor’s note. The office will not supply any medication.
