Our AP and college-bound art students entered the scholastic art awards in Dec. BBS High School had four recognized for their achievements in our Southeast region.
Gold Key: Hailey Nichols (mixed media piece)
Silver Key: Mackenna Hood (senior portfolio)
Honorable Mention: Elizabeth Hoilman (senior portfolio), Emily McCutcheon ( mixed media piece)
Gold key winners will move on to compete at the National level.
Teens in grades 7–12 apply in 29 categories of art and writing. In 2017, students submitted more than 330,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts, some of whom are past award recipients.
This scholastic art competition has been around since 1923.
