Fire Prevention Poster Contest

The Chattanooga Fire Department held its annual Fire Prevention Week awards program on Monday.

The Fire Prevention Week awards program consisted of contestants who illustrated this year’s fire safety theme. The theme was “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!”

Fire Marshal Beau Matlock and Assistant Marshal Chuck Hartung announced the winners of the fire safety poster contest.

The Fire Prevention Week awards program had individual winners from each grade and then the overall winner, known as the “Best of Show.”

The “Best of Show” winner from the 2017 Fire Prevention Week was our very own Emily McCutcheon.

McCutcheon’s illustration will be displayed on a billboard for a month, along with receiving a Walmart gift card.

The top overall winners from the Fire Prevention Week contest included:

  • 1st Place – Hailey Nichols, 11th grade, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 2nd Place – Mackenna Hood, 12th grade, Boyd Buchanan Scool
  • 3rd Place – Elizabeth Hoilman, 12th grade, Boyd Buchanan School

The Boyd Buchanan winners from grades K-12 are listed below:

  • Kindergarten – Jake Valazquez, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 4th Grade – Sydney Baker, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 6th Grade – Taala Issa, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 9th Grade – Ivy Henderson, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 11th Grade – Anna Waldrep, Boyd Buchanan School
  • 12th Grade – Sara Li, Boyd Buchanan School
