Spiritual Life at BBS
At a Glance
Boyd Buchanan School is a rare and special place that prepares students to walk with the Master and to embrace life's challenges with joy, courage and wisdom.
Boyd Buchanan is dedicated to help build spiritual growth and inspire a spirit of servanthood in students, families, and faculty. Spiritual life is not just a segment of our day, it is how we seek to live every day. All schools seek to provide a spiritually enriching environment through worship, the Word, and volunteer work.
Our campus pastor is dedicated to guide and lead the spiritual growth of students and faculty during the school year. Boyd Buchanan engages in various acts of service throughout the school year such as:
- Weekly chapel services
- Community service projects
- Youth Court (BBS High School)
- Mission work (nationally and internationally)
Values in Verses
Boyd Buchanan School exists to glorify God and prepare students to walk with the Master. The following verses are used consistently and are considered value statements for the students and faculty.
You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
– Matthew 5:14
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
– Romans 12:2
The Lord has done great things for us and we are filled with joy.
– Psalm 126:3
In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
– Matthew 5:16
2017-2018 Spiritual Theme
Our school theme for 2017-2018 comes from Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” We are all on a journey of spiritual formation; to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. Please join us in prayer as we witness the Master in His work of TRANSFORMING our students, faculty, and this campus into His likeness.
selecting a spiritual theme
Since 2015, Boyd Buchanan School has appointed a spiritual theme committee made up of BBS faculty and trustees. These faculty members prayerfully ask for God to give both clarity and discernment in selecting a theme that is of His will for the upcoming school year.
Throughout the year, each teacher then uses their specific gifts and talents to share the theme as they see fit. Chapels also continue to reinforce the theme throughout the entire school year.
The spiritual themes have been a source of unity and purpose that helps to focus us on God’s mission for Boyd Buchanan School.
