Welcome to Boyd Buchanan School, and thank you for taking the time to visit us as you consider BBS for your child’s education. Determining the educational path for your child is a critical decision and will often set the trajectory for your child’s future. Our purpose is to work in partnership with families to help students grow developmentally, spiritually and academically. 

For 70 years, Boyd Buchanan School has positively impacted the lives of hundreds of families in our community and across the country. Our mission is to offer a loving, Christ-centered environment, where each student has the opportunity to grow spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically. Boyd Buchanan is a rare and special place for students to walk with the Lord and embrace life’s challenges with joy, courage, and wisdom.

As a Christian, independent school, we also have a desire for our students to know the love of Christ, develop lifelong learners and become the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve our community at home and abroad. These experiences at Boyd Buchanan provide a foundational spiritual framework as they move forward in life.

Dr. Renee Murley

About Dr. Murley

Dr. Renee Murley, Head of School, has been in education for more than 25 years. She earned her BS and MS from Freed-Hardeman University and completed her doctorate from the University of Memphis. During her time as an educator, she has been a teacher, college professor, administrator and leader in teacher preparation. Most recently, she was the Director of the School of Education at UTC. While in that position, she served on the Board of Trustees for Boyd Buchanan School.  She is married to Craig Murley,  also an educator, and they have two children at BBS.
