Visual Art

The visual art curriculum at Boyd Buchanan Lower School focuses on the Elements of Art and how they apply to all aspects of art production. 

Students are exposed to different art techniques, media, methods and tools that allow them to create a multitude of work.

The visual art curriculum at Boyd Buchanan Middle School focuses on the Elements of Art and how they apply to all aspects of art production. 

Students are exposed to different art techniques, media, methods and tools that allow them to create a multitude of work. The majority of classwork is hands on art production but some art history and culture reading are touched on. 

Art I.  A course that provides an introduction to art through multi-media experiences such as drawing, painting, printmaking and pottery.  Students will learn and apply the elements and principles of design to produce creative art projects that reflect their understanding of these concepts.

Advanced Art- students in Advanced art will explore deeper the medias they were introduced to in Art I. 

AP Art- Students will be enrolled in the class offered by College Board and be able to earn a college credit.

Art for College Art Majors-for students who have taken two years of AP art and plan to major in the arts in college.

Pottery/sculpture-a year long course allowing students to explore both clay and 3D sculpture with exciting lessons and projects.
