A VISION FOR BBS ATHLETICS
Boyd Buchanan Athletics has experienced transformative growth within the athletics program: a new, multi-use athletic complex, new sports, new coaches, new student-athletes, and in 2018 we were blessed with a new Athletic Director, Tommy Brown ’89.
Boyd Buchanan School boasts a tradition of excellence in athletics. My vision is for our head varsity coaches to have a vertical approach with our athletic programs, which for us means a K-12 approach. We want each head coach to be responsible for the development of their sport for the entire institution. Dustin Walker, head varsity soccer coach, is a great example of this. He takes a vested interest in all soccer programs at BBS including the elementary summer camps.
In the elementary programs, we want to teach the fundamentals and instill a passion that will be carried throughout their athletic career at BBS. In our middle and high school programs, we want to win, but win the right way and for the right reasons. Simply put, winning is the result of a team working together to reach a common goal. With our transition to Division II, we are stepping up our game in terms of training, fundraising, recruiting coaches, and all of the critical resources we need to build a winning program, underpinned by a respected program at this rare and special place. GO BUCS!
